LAYTH H. GAFOOR

Layth was raised in the east end of Toronto, Canada.
His academic career has allowed him the unique opportunity to study in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He pursued a degree in International Relations with a focus on South East Asian politics and culture.
Following his studies in Malaysia, he attended York University to begin his B.Sc. During his time at York University, he was honoured with the distinction of becoming the first student to be elected to a seat on York University’s Board of Governors and to be President of the Undergraduate Student Union.
After the completion of his undergraduate degree, he was recruited to work in sales at IBM Canada.
Following his tenure at IBM Canada, Layth returned to York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School to pursue his LL.B. During law school, he completed a summer term at both IBM Canada’s Corporate Commercial & Intellectual Property Divisions as well as at the Ministry of Labour.
Layth completed his Articles of Clerkship at the Management Board Secretariat of the Attorney General, where he focused on Corporate Commercial, Intellectual Property, Labour & Employment Litigation and Procurement law.
Layth is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is also an active member of the Ontario Bar Association where he holds the position of secretary of the Entertainment Media and Communications section. In addition, he has membership within the Canadian Urban Music Alliance, the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and the Maytree Foundation. |
