In voting to end the strike, members voiced their support for a new three year basic agreement between themselves and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The AMPTP is the trade organization that represents the interests of 397 American film and television producers.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) renegotiates its Minimum Basic Agreement (MBA) with the AMPTP every three years.
