From January 1, 2004, all organizations engaged in commercial activities must comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (the “Act”), unless the federal cabinet has exempted the organization because it is subject to “substantially similar” provincial legislation. To date, lawyers and law firms in Ontario are not subject to any such exemption orders. Therefore, these obligations extend to lawyers and law firms, including, Gafoor Law. Although, as lawyers, we have always been obligated by the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Rules of Professional Conduct to maintain the confidentiality of client information, the Act gives you additional rights concerning the privacy of your personal information.

What data do we collect and how do we use it?

This website only collects personal information about you when you send us an e-mail using our “Contact Us” section. “Personal information” includes any information about an identifiable individual, such as your home address, telephone number or personal e-mail address. “Personal information” does not include business contact information such your name, title, position or business address. Unless you notify us otherwise, we will assume that the information you provide us through this site is business contact information.

Any information you provide us through this site may be used to respond to your inquiries, improve our communication with you, or provide you with information that we believe may be of interest to you. In addition, we may also share your information with parties that we have commercial relationships with in order to improve the technical, functional, and content aspects of our site.

Use of Cookies
